severe postpartum hypertension - will it get better?
I am almost 4 weeks postpartum and still get severe spikes in my blood pressure. I am still retaining fluid and I have to drink at least a gallon of water to maintain a decent urine output. I am on 1700 mg of labetolol and I frankly hate that my pulse is so low now (between 45-50) . My BP is okay du...

Re: Postpartum preeclampsia and trying for baby #3
I had preeclampsia in all 3 pregnancies ranging from mild in both of the first pregnancies with later onsets to severe in the last pregnancy. I also had severe preeclampsia 1 week postpartum. My MFM is still seeing me every week and I am now 3 weeks postpartum. My blood pressure is still very labile...

Re: Preg #3 = Success!!!
Congrats! I gave birth on the day as you, but at 35+3 with severe preeclampsia. My daughter weighed 6 lbs 1 oz and was 18.9 inches long, so we almost had the same stats. She is still in the NICU. I am happy that it worked out for you!

Re: I had my baby
Thanks everyone! I guess I was speaking too soon. Tuesday night I suddenly started feeling horrible out of the blue while laying on the couch and watching TV, I had taken my BP earlier and it was 139/89 so I wasn't initially alarmed. I decided to take it again: 165/108 and as I started to rapidly fe...

I had my baby
Hi everyone, I posted over the last 9 weeks on and off. My daughter Luna was born on 11/17 at 35 w 3 days because I developed severe preeclampsia. I was on 1500 mg of Labetalol in the end, but my BP didn't come down anymore. I was induced and gave birth 12 hours later. My daughter weighted a nice 6 ...

Re: BP Medication
I am not a chronic, but I have had preeclampsia twice, both times it started as gestational hypertension. I started Labetalol at 26 weeks in this pregnancy because without any meds my BP gets dangerously high before my labs turn abnormal. My MFM doc felt it was best to keep the BP under control as l...

Re: what was that?! - update
So I had to go to L&D again yesterday for labwork. My BP are now consistently staying in the 140s/90s and higher. Baby is still passing her BPPs with flying colors, so they are happy about that. My MFM doc stopped by while I was in L&D and told me that at this point she wants me to go no longer than...

Re: what was that?!
It's possible that it related to the bedrest, actually. I have been on it for 8 weeks and I don't really get to do much. I sincerely hope they consider induction at 37 weeks, I can tell my body is falling apart :( My BP fluctuates like crazy and typically stays in the 140s/90s range now despite the ...

Re: Update on Things got ugly
Oh my goodness, I am sorry, but your doc sounds very incompetent! You are spilling protein, you got high readings from paramedics (!), you might have had a seizure and they keep acting like you are making this all up? I would seriously consider telling them that you are getting in touch with a lawye...
