Re: Proof that stress in pregnancy is bad?

Kerisue I don't think that it's an idea that is well supported by the research that has actually been done KWIM? I share Caryn's view of the journal BTW. Stress comes in several flavors. There's the physiologic stress of being pregnant which may be added to by chronic hypertension. In my mind this i...

Re: shoulder pain after emergency c-section

One final explanation for your shoulder pain is that it was directly associated with your severe pre-eclampsia. You may not be aware but pain from your liver can be referred to your shoulder. Do you know if your liver enzymes were elevated during the worst of your illness? That said, this problem us...

Re: Disconnected from pregnancy? Am I alone?

No, you aren't alone and you shouldn't feel ashamed. Even women who haven't lost children struggle to feel invested in a new pregnancy if their previous experiences have been traumatic. It's natural to guard yourself against the fear of hurt and loss. As a culture, we have invested pregnancy with "r...

Re: Paranoid - From Pre-e to chronic hypertension

Maybe you can't stop chronic hypertension from happening but all the work that you've invested in your health/eating habits etc. isn't being wasted. It's the damage to organs caused by elevated BPs long term that is the real worry and you've got a handle on this now. Forewarned is forearmed I guess....

Re: Baby in NICU for one month now

Good grief!!!! No wonder that you haven't been back to let us know how you've been getting on! Congratulations on the birth of your little girl. I know that she's got a long road ahead of her but she seems to have done very well so far. How are you feeling now? Has your BP come back to normal? Recov...

Re: Stressing out a little ...

Hang in there girl. I know that it sucks to be wanting this to be over... when you know that sticking out the misery will be beneficial to the babies... Two tips>>> audio books... allow you to lie in the dark and take your mind to somewhere else entirely. Wait until as late as possible to take the A...

Re: At a Loss, please help!

I suspect that we can help you find some good local advice because the PF has recently intiated international outreach specifically with experts in Brazil. So, hang on in there and hopefully someone "on your territory" should be along to advise.

Re: PROM risk?

Heather remembers correctly. I did PPROM. The first time, my first pregnancy, I was at 35 weeks and 4 days and just like you.. no contraction just sprang a leak. I ultimately went into labor and ended up with a vaginal delivery (slightly goosed with pitocin). The next time around, nobody cared a whi...
