Re: question about 3rd pregnancy

My first came at 36 weeks, but I was diagnosed around week 32. My second, we delivered by section at 37 weeks (mildly elevated pressures postpartum). We had our third in January of 2011, and it was my best pregnancy to date. No swelling, *perfect* bps, low-normal weight gain, and a biggish babe (and...

Re: Starting LDA a couple weeks later?

Congratulations! I have two angles for you. When Oliver was conceived, we'd been trying for awhile, and it wasn't happening. We decided to stop and just see what happened. I'm supposed to take LDA outside of pregnancy as well as during, and I wasn't taking it (I'd stopped when we stopped TTC). Anywa...

Re: When to TTC after severe pe and a stillbirth

I'm so sorry for your loss. As you can see, we have a such an amazing community of mamas here who understand *exactly* what your frustrations are. What field does the doctor prescribing your bp meds work in (internist, cardiologist, OB)? It's quite possible that your MFM may have an entirely differe...

Re: Tyring Again After Stillborn

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( It sounds like your new OB is taking all the necessary steps toward getting you ready for another pregnancy. Has it been suggested that you consult with a doctor of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)? Given your loss and possible early onset of preeclampsia, consulting with...

Re: Dr refusing to order 24 hour urine...(friend's issues)

The only reason, I would think, not to do a 24 hour at 37 weeks is because mama is being induced. I can't find the information (Blythe?), but IIRC, 37 weeks is the golden gestation to call it when you're dealing with gestational hypertension period. I'll shoot Heather and Caryn a message and see if ...

Re: Lovenox ?

Hi, Shannon! I've used lovenox throughout my last two pregnancies, and I've had bruising that runs the gamut. Some were small, very dark bruises without blood coming through the surface (like what you described), some were the size of half dollars, some had knots, some didn't. I never really found a...

Re: How much did baby aspirin help?

I believe (but don't quote me) that the more recent studies have shown that it is most effective for the early-onset group. That said, I've taken LDA with both of my last two pregnancies (with my first, PE onset was somewhere around 30 weeks which is early, but I limped along for a LONG time relativ...

Re: High BP at 11 weeks

It sounds like you might be dealing with chronic hypertension at this stage. I would definitely get a cuff and monitor at home. I used www.bplog.com to record/print my readings to take to my appointments. With the information at hand, your doctor will be able to see trends. I would call Monday becau...

Re: Can liver numbers go back to normal if you have HELLP?

First, congratulations on your boys, mama; I'm sure that getting them here was a hard road in itself (my best friend has two-year-old b/g twins via IVF). Given what you've faced already, I'm relieved to hear you're in the hospital and being carefully monitored. As Teresa said, once HELLP hits, it hi...
