Re: 1 more week to go! Any tips?

You have gotten some great advice here! I always love to hear these successes! A little encouragement - after my section, I was in ICU for 2 days. I was in the hospital for a week total. Because of the anti-seizure meds, etc., I was not allowed to bf until the boys were a week old. So they had those...

Re: High blood pressure, no pre e...hoping to connect

I absolutely agree, induction is preferable to being cut open and sections are definitely major surgery. And I've actually seen a couple of posters here who said they were able to deliver during/after having seizures - which is crazy to me! - but evidently it happens.

Re: High blood pressure, no pre e...hoping to connect

I should correct myself - pitocin can raise your BP, for sure. I don't know if it really can change the course of PE or PIH during an induction or not. My experience was bad, in that I was induced with already-too-high BP and I seized after being started on pitocin, having my epidural, and having my...

Re: High blood pressure, no pre e...hoping to connect

It is good to hear that you are 30 weeks! So not too much longer for a safe delivery. In light of what you've said about your care, I would only caution you to prepare for a hospital delivery because of the chance of seizures (which can cause you to become unresponsive, i.e. unable to birth your bab...

Re: 3rd Pregnancy (long)

It is definitely easy to worry about percentiles and fluid levels dropping. I wouldn't say you're perfectly ok, but I wouldn't freak out yet either. If he's in the 39th %-tile, that's better than the 9th %-tile. I would be more concerned, personally, with the fluid levels. But that does depend on ho...

Re: High blood pressure, no pre e...hoping to connect

Welcome to our forum :) How far along are you? did they do ultrasounds to check out the baby and placenta? Being overseas is obviously different - different meds and resources available... but I have heard some posters say they've had bad reactions to some BP meds (including bad headaches) - can you...

Re: 3rd Pregnancy (long)

Welcome! glad you found us! I'm not sure about the dosages on the meds, as I have never taken them. So I will let someone else answer that :) For the official diagnosis of PE, it does take proteinuria of 300 and 2 BP readings of 140/90 or higher. So your doctor is right about that - you should fall ...

Re: Lost my sister. Lost without my sister.

I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, going straight to eclampsia is less common (at least from what I've seen here) and, possibly, more traumatic. I was in the hospital when I seized and I'm sure that's why I survived. It is so overwhelming to be blindsided with something like eclampsia. What...

Re: will i make it to 36 weeks?

If you are feeling like you need to be kept or watched more closely, I would just go in to your OB's office after leaving L&D. If your doctor sees you and sends you over there (instead of you going in on your own), maybe she can give orders more specifically for your care. If you are this uncomforta...

Re: Alternative diagnosis

Did you know the pitocin can cause your bp to increase dramatically even without preeclampsia/eclampsia/PIH? And that can actually lead to many of the same things preeclampsia causes. I know all about it now :) I was never diagnosed with any hypertensive issues in that pregnancy, so I knew nothing ...
