Doc switched me back to Labetalol ( from Propranolol). Kinda nervous about all this. Last pregnancy I was delivered by the time I hit 1200mg of Lebetalol and 5mg of Norvasc. This time, I'm already at 800mg of Lebetalol and 25mg of Hctz. Doc also said later in pregnancy she'll add back my Norvasc and adjust the Labetalol as needed...........ugh :0( She said I'll be in a honeymoom period over the next few weeks and then probably need to up the Labetalol :0(

I thought I replied to this a couple of days ago, but I guess it didn't post...sorry!

Anyway, I had to adjust my meds twice last pregnancy--once around 11 weeks and then around 20-26 weeks. Ironically I had to lower my dosage because I was fainting. After delivery I had to increase my meds. With this pregnancy (currently 20 weeks) I haven't had any adjustments yet, but suspect I will have to increase them at some point because I never saw a 2nd trimester dip.

Im running into the same question. Im about 9 weeks and normaly my blood pressure is 130 over 80 and 3 or so months ago I became cronic and was getting readings of 145/150 over 90/95. I was put on 50 mg of labatalol 2 times a day, it went down to 126 over about 65 ish now the last 2 days its been 130/140 over 80/90 So I have to up my dose tomorrow to 100mg twice. It kinda of makes me feel like it's going to happen same way again but. The Dr. was also expecting it to go up around 10 weeks. I'm also going on Zoloft next week when I see my MFM again. :) Good luck. I think it's pretty normal for you to add to your BP meds around this time. I sure hope so for both of us!

Thankyou! I see my doc tomorrow. Now my bp's have been hovering on the lower side for me. 130/90. I've even gotten a few 120/82! I'll just let her know tomorrow :0)

I am a chronic and experienced arrhythmia early in my second pregnancy. It was very frightening. I felt weak and unwell, went to emergency, had high bp because of the stress, but it went down. Have you talked to your doctor? Mine watched me closely but didn't adjust, then I went into the second sem dip and didn't need more meds until around 30 weeks. Take care!

Hi, I'm chronic and with my last pregnancy I had about 3 adjustments if I remember correctly, I was delivered at 36 wks, 3 days for low fluid.
My first med adjustment was at 10 weeks when I went from 25mg of Atenolol to 50mg.

Med question for pregnant chronics

Postby brandib » Mon Mar 23, 639237 1:00 am

At what point in pregnancy did you get your first med adjustment??? I'm just about 11 weeks and I didn't guess I would need a med adjustment for quite some time, but today my BP's have been all over the place, including my heartbeat. Feels all floppy and then like I got hit in the chest. My bp machine a few times has detected an arythmia........its too early for bps to go labile right???? Wonder if today is just a fluke or if I might need a med adjustment.
