Re : Appendectomy at 24 wks!!
Ouch! I had no idea that they could do surgeries while pregnant! But in the case of an appendectomy they must not have had a choice. (my mom had an emergency appendectomy last year b.c it ruptured. Her recovery took a while and it was quite painful) May I ask how far along you are right now?
Re : Appendectomy at 24 wks!!
sorry you are having to go through this, ouch!!
i had major surgery at 16 wks pregnant with my angel Jake, i had an ovarian tumour and my ovary removed, i was opened up fully from my tummy button down, the pain took over 5 wks to subside and then i got severe HELLP 5wks later with its devastating consequences.Sometimes pregnancy just isnt like it is in all the books eh???
i really hope you feel better soon, rest up and good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy

Thanks everyone. I think your shock echoes mine. :)
I am taking Vicadin to help with pain, and napping constantly.
I am out for at least another week.

Wow, what an experience for you! I'm glad it ended up not being pregnancy related and that you're okay.

Wow,
I can't believe what some women have to go through while being pregnant! I think that every person in the world should be constantly honouring their mom and practically bowing at her feet! (LOL) [:D] Okay, that may be a stretch, but you know what I mean.
Good luck with the remainder of the pregnancy. I hope that it is BORING.

Well that's certainly not something one expects while pregnant :) I do hope you are feeling better soon. That's great news on your BPs and labs. I hope the next 16 or so weeks are boring in comparison.

Oh, wow. That sounds horribly painful in itself muchless WHILE pregnant. Yikes. I hope you feel better soon.
Hooray for good BP and labs!!! Maybe that will be the most eventful part of your pregnancy!

Ick, not me, and that sounds just terrible! Do you have some help around while you're recovering? Hope you start feeling better soon!
Appendectomy at 24 wks!!
Well, I thought after the PE/HELLP pregnancy that this one would be easy...Boy was I wrong!
I went into L&D on Sunday night with pain in my right side, slight fever and some nausea...About 6hrs later, I was on the board for an appendectomy early Monday morning. Went in to the OR, and out came my little appendix! [:)]
The pregnancy is good, after all that. [:D] BP is better than ever...maybe because I have been in bed for 4 days, and all lab values are good. My peri came in and said that this was just an isolated medical issue, not a pregnancy thing. I could have had this at any time, being pregnant had nothing to do with it. (I guess that is comforting)
I have to be honest though, it hurts! Since teh incision is higher and you have to general anesthesia, I am really in a lot of pain. Way more than the C-Section. Maybe, because after the Csection, you have places to go- like to see a baby! But ugh on this recovery!
Anyone out there had their appendix out while pregnant?
