Thanks for the congratulations everyone,

Wow jenmatt1, only 3 more weeks, that's awesome!

To those who asked about the C-section scar/VBAC:
I have a horizontal scar, the "good" kind, which is why they OKd the trial of labor. They would not induce, though, so were only letting me try a VBAC if I went into labor on my own up to 41 weeks, after that they would have scheduled a C-section.
The labor went well, I went in in the morning with contractions but was not dilated so they sent me home, then in the late afternoon the contractions got painful so I returned to l&d, I was dilated to 2 so they admitted me. I labored for 6 hours or so and asked them to check me, and since I was making good progress (dilated to 5) I felt OK getting an epidural. That felt great, I dozed for a few hours and woke up when it was time to push. I was so numb they had to tell me when to push but I pushed him out in 8 contractions anyway! It was pretty amazing and my husband and I kept saying how big Dillon looked. We were in total shock! It was really pretty textbook- I had been nervous because I was never in labor with Zoe so I counted myself as a "first timer" and thought labor would be long and they would try to force pitiful on me, but none of that happened.

wow! Congrats! How did you get your doctor to allow VBAC after an emergency c-section? Did you have a horizontal or vertical uterine scar? I would so jump on that! Congrats on your precious bundle of joy.

Wonderful news! It must be such a relief, but weird experience to have a full term that comes home with you!

When you get a chance, I'd love to hear more about your VBAC experience. I'm hoping to do a VBAC too.

Full Term, no pre-e!

Postby chloeada » Tue Dec 14, 2010 07:16 pm

Hi! I just had my baby, Dillon, by successful VBAC, on 12/12. He was 7 lbs 4 oz, 21 inches, and 40 weeks, 2 days gestation. After my previous experience (DD Zoe was born by emergency c-section 10 weeks early, weighing only 2 lbs because of severe preeclampsia), this birth was nothing short of amazing. It seems surreal to be home already with a baby to take care of and not pumping milk in the NICU. The only thing I did differently this time is take baby aspirin.
