I could have sworn that I was told that after the 20 week scan I would have appts every 2 weeks, but I can't remember if that was just appts or ultrasounds too. Then sometime after that I would go to NST/ultrasound visits twice weekly. Last time I delivered at 33 weeks (3 hours away from 34 weeks) and I had PE that came on very suddenly so no real warning signs before that. If you are worried it might be worth a calll into your MFM, sounds like things are going well for you though. :-)

I had them at 7, 11, and 19 weeks for just the normal checks. My OB wouldn't have ordered any more (my BP has been fine and baby looks good), but baby is huge. So I've gotten 2 other growth scans due to his big size. I was told most people only get 2, so I would also assume that getting only the normal scans means the doc is happy with the progress.

I had one at 5 weeks, 7 weeks, 20 weeks, and will have the next one at 28 weeks. The mfm said I will have another one after the 28 week u.s., but I don't remember when exactly.

I have no idea what is on the schedule regarding biophysical profiles and/or non-stress tests. I'm guessing nst's are next though.

My experience was identical to Angie's except I didn't start NST (with fluid checks)/BPPs until 32 weeks. I had them more frequently because of the anticoagulants, fwiw.

Uh, I had to edit because my crazy iPad autocorrected "identical" to "die tidal," and I didn't catch it before submitting. ;)

I'm not a good example because both my OB and Peri do ultrasounds at every visit (that just so happens to be standard at both of their practice). I see my OB every 3 weeks and I had been seeing my Peri every 2 weeks for a while. I would like to think that less ultrasounds means that your doctor is not worried about your pregnancy and that everything is looking beautiful? That's just my speculation.

I had u/s at 20 weeks (actually it took 3 tries, so I had the last one at 23!), 30, and 34. All were completely normal, so I assume that I would've been bumped up in frequency if there had been any real concern. I may not be the best anecdata because my concern was chronic HTN--I had a normally sized baby first time, but HTN and meds make them more cautious. Also, I'm difficult to palpate, so even the NHS doesn't like relying on that when it comes to me; I had growth u/s my first pregnancy, and the NHS is much stricter with monitoring.

How often are you having ultrasounds?

Postby jean » Sat Aug 27, 2011 05:16 pm

I had an ultrasound at 20 wks and haven't had one since... My next scheduled ultrasound is with the peri at 28 wks. (That is when I got sick last time with HELLP). I am curious, how often are all of you having ultrasounds/sonograms, and if they started becoming more prevelant at some point, what point was it?
Our first son was born and passed in Feb of 2010. Born at 29 weeks due to HELLP and passed due to NEC. We miss him every day. :~(

Our second son was born at 39 weeks gestation in Nov of 2011. No HELLP or pre-e! Took LDA starting at week 12 and went off of it at week 38!
