I am now 12 weeks. I have had weird bp and protein during this pregnancy so far. At 8 weeks my bp at the dr office was 135/84 and +1 protein in urine. My dr told me that if I was 24 weeks with this exact same bp and protein and my history I would be in L&D on bedrest. That freaked me out. We did 24 hour urine and my levels were well under 300 which was nice to see. I know pree isnt diagnoisned (normally) before 20 weeks and I dont have high bp normally so I just feel like a ticking time bomb before Im sent to the hospital... and scares me even more that when Im there it wont be a long bed rest stay. With this last apt my bp was 120/70, no protein. So we'll see. I have told myself that I can only do what I can do and the rest will play its self out. As much as I want a termie I will be happy making it to 35 weeks. That is my goal. :D

Thanks guys for the responses. I wish I had found this website when I was bedrest with my son.

I was on bedrest for 1 week with my first, delivered at 36w 4d. With my 2nd I wasn't on bedrest but was on BP meds at 31 weeks and delivered at 38w 2 d. With my 3rd I was on modified bedrest starting at 26 weeks and strict bedrest at 31 weeks. I delivered at 35 w 3 d. The first 2 times I had mild pre-e, the 3rd time I had severe pre-e and developed superimposed pre-e at 6 days postpartum.

I was put on bedrest on a monday and delivered on friday of the same week, at 32 weeks. Didn't make it very long. And I was at the hospital so if I sneezed wrong they were all over me about following the strict guidelines. Good luck

I had severe preeclampsia with my first son at around 37 weeks which I was induced immediately. With my second son my OB put me on bedrest at 30 weeks as a preventative measure, I was having no symptoms of pre e. Only being on bedrest for two weeks I developed preeclampsia again. After two days in the hospital and two rounds of steroids I was induced again. I am now 26 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and my doctors are placing me on a bedrest at 28 weeks in hopes to prevent pre-e from happening again.

I went on bedrest at 25 weeks and was in severe pre-e and HELLP at 27. The reason for the bedrest was not blood pressure, but a baby that had pretty much quit growing since 20-22 weeks, low fluid, and a big placenta (due to clotting). I had URQ pain starting at 25 weeks and my BP began to rise at 27 weeks, which got me steroids (just in case of early delivery) and landed me in the hospital. 3 days after that I was in full HELLP, severe pre-e, and my son had absent diastolic flow in the cord, so they got him out.

I've heard that 2 weeks is pretty common for bedrest, but there have been people on bedrest for 3 months. Let's hope you won't need it! How far along are you?

I was on bedrest for 2 weeks and delivered at 30weeks 3 days. My doctors said it was pretty serious. My blood pressure jumped to 185/125 during delivery. I don't think my protein levels were super high. They were mostly worried about me stroking out or the possibility of a stillborn because of iugr and decelerations. If meds and bedrest could have controlled everything they would have let me ride it out to full term.

Bedrest and Pre-e?

Postby Jax2011 » Sun Jun 23, 639269 6:38 pm

I was on hospital bedrest for a week before my son was born last year. With this baby I feel it's only a matter of time before we are on bedrest and I am hoping I can keep this baby in until atleast 35 weeks. I'm trying to get an idea of bedrest lengths before babies were born.

So, if you were on bedrest how long were you on bedrest and how sever was your pree?
