had the baby
Re: had the baby
I took bp meds for 12 weeks post partum. My bp was fine though after PP PE showed. It went up to 190/130 and never went up again. Once they got the fluid off of me, I felt great. I lost 30lbs in one weekend, in thehospital.
Re: had the baby
Can PP PE last longer? I started needing meds at 10 weeks PP (well, that's when I started having visual disturbances and went to the dr at least). I'm still having to take them now.
Re: had the baby
I developed PP pre-E 5 days postpartum. Was on Procardia and Labetolol for 3 weeks and then it was gone. BP and Labs WNL at 3 weeks out and when rechecked 18 months later.

Re: had the baby
Postpartum it's usually postpartum PE, so long as it resolves by about 8 weeks postpartum. It acts just like PE in pregnancy, but they have med options that they don't have when you're pregnant, so it can be easier to treat.
Good work catching it! Is the Procardia bringing your pressures down a bit?
