Re: Feeling much better
Funny thing is my resting pulse is still about 105. Not really sure why its making me feel better but I am glad that it is. Wish it would make the swelling in my legs decrease and then it would be awesome

Re: Feeling much better
I've actually noticed that I've been very snappy/moody, more so since being on the Labetalol, though hard to say if it's hormones or meds.
Alexis- I had forgotten that about that. My hubby explained it like I'd could still be in a fight or flight mode but my heart-rate and physiological state would stay calm cool and collected.
I think that explains the moodiness/snappiness but still having normal BP during it, whereas I'm sure if I wasn't on it it would be much higher during those times.

Re: Feeling much better
That's odd as I've been much more emotional/ snappy this time than last and I wasn't on Labetalol then. I think it may be anxiety that is making it worse this time.
Re: Feeling much better
I have not taken labetalol (I took a different beta blocker), but one of the things beta blockers do is reduce anxiety (I can't remember the full mechanism of action--as well as keeping your heart from racing I think it has something to do with adrenaline). In fact, they are used to treat situational social anxiety for this reason (typically, propanolol is used for this). So, one of the really pleasant side effects of beta blockers is that you feel calmer and less anxious, and this makes you feel physically better.
This effect often wears off with time, which is why the drugs are more popular for specific situations than generalized anxiety.

Re: Feeling much better
I felt much better when we started 200mg, it nicely brought my bp back down. I did notice the first few days that I had to adjust to it sometimes being a lil' lower than I had gotten used to and I kinda felt in first gear even when I wanted to be in third if that makes any sense. Now (it's been 2.5 weeks) I feel like my normal self pretty close to 100% of the time.
I actually just noticed the other day while at the doctor's office that the headaches I was having before have completely gone away. I hope the meds continue to allow you to feel more yourself!

Feeling much better
So went to the dr on thursday and was finally started on labetelol 300mg BID. Took the first dose and it made me kinda sleepy but when I woke I was feeling much better. It has knocked my blood pressure from 140-50 over 90-100 down to 130/80ish. I can't believe how much better I feel. I don't even seem to mind the extra fluid that seems to be creeping up at the moment. I wish I had pushed sooner for the BP meds.
So my question is- Did anyone else start bp meds and it make them feel much better or is this from some other source. Or as I am paranoid is this the calm before the storm.
Hope all the ladies are having a great weekend. It is hot here so everyone try to stay cool.
