aajatwins - Wow, how encouraging! You really hung with it with the twins, especially after all you went through. It is nice to hear those success stories.
I still can't believe that we made it. I did my pre-op this morning, and we will meet baby sister early tomorrow morning! I can tell that she's really grown the last two weeks. Some of my maternity shirts aren't even long enough anymore (I'm already tall at 5'9"). The doctor said my fluid was normal Friday, and my BP is even low-normal... it's so night and day different from last time. The nursery has been done for almost 3 months, and my bag has been backed for several weeks... but we're just here waiting.
kbielec - dreams do come true. I got my wish of being huge and uncomfortable for a really long time! The worst thing has been the lower back/pelvis pain especially getting up and down. The best thing has been seeing my husband chuckle at me struggling and knowing it's all completely normal and part of being really pregnant.
I'll get some pictures and an update on here as soon as I'm able. And I want to hear lots of similar success stories from you pregnant ladies here soon!

You have gotten some great advice here! I always love to hear these successes!
A little encouragement - after my section, I was in ICU for 2 days. I was in the hospital for a week total. Because of the anti-seizure meds, etc., I was not allowed to bf until the boys were a week old. So they had those two different kinds of bottle nipples for that first week while I pumped and dumped (so miserable!!). Once I was allowed to nurse, Jordan latched on right away and ate like a champ! Aidan had reflux and a bad latch and he never really was a great nurser, but if he hadn't had a twin brother, I feel certain I could have worked through the bad latch with him. (He nursed fine in cradle hold, but I could only figure out how to nurse them together in football. So he only ate well in the middle of the night when I nursed them separately.) My milk came in fine, but I think that is just every woman being different.
We did have issues in their 2nd week of life because it was my first week bf'ing - they didn't gain much weight (especially Aidan) and the doc wanted me to supplement with formula. I was devastated. And I didn't do it!! I talked to a La Leche League Leader friend and she encouraged me to pump before every feeding - only 5 minutes or so. That allowed me to get the foremilk (skinny in content) out so the boys could drink more hindmilk (fatty in content). And they gained perfectly the next week and the doc was impressed that I had not supplemented at all. Supplementing will decrease your milk supply, no matter what people tell you. The best way to regulate your milk is to nurse when baby is hungry, no matter how often or how long. It usually only takes about 6 weeks. (and some kids just eat a lot
my baby only stopped eating every 2 hours during the day at about 4.5 months. it really stunk a lot of days, but he slept through the night.)
so congratulations!! and best wishes for continued smooth sailing!!
I use the La Leche League website all the time for bf'ing questions.
