Diets to prevent pre-e

Postby angieb » Fri Jun 24, 2011 05:57 pm

I keep running into people on other websites developing pre-e like symptoms and being advised to eat more protein and/or follow the brewer diet and all will be well... Is there something officialish maybe from the experts or research I can link to so people are getting accurate info...? (I don't know how easy it is to modify the front page but I would love to see something regarding diet on the info about pre-e on the front page, I want to smack my head on a wall everytime I run into this which has been too often lately.)

I second this....I have had about three pregnant women tell me that if they cut out sodium all together they will not get pre-e. I think there needs to be a scientific article about preeclampsia urban legends or something.

This thread has more on the Brewer Diet. It has links to the full-text papers underpinning current theories and to our Experts, plus about a kajillion pages where we argue with one of the more prominent advocates for the diet.

The PF is in the process of developing something with a nutritionist - IIRC she works with the World Health Organization - as well.
Science! The articles you don't want to miss:
The Preeclampsia Puzzle (New Yorker) and Silent Struggle: A New Theory of Pregnancy (New York Times)
Looking for recent articles and studies? Lectures from researchers?
A chance to participate in research? For us on Facebook or Twitter?

DD Bridget born by C-section after water broke at 39 weeks after a healthy pregnancy

Is this still in the works? (Or somewhere I've missed?) Just answered yet another question about the Brewer diet on another forum... Thanks!
