Hi...my name is Jenilee. After reading everyones' stories about having preeclampsia and some familes loosing
Hi...my name is Jenilee. After reading everyones' stories about having preeclampsia and some familes loosing their babies, I find myself every lucky, to my survived it, and that I still have my son. I only had 3 weeks left to go, I was so excited, but yet couldn't wait for it to be over. I woke up on July 8th, 2004 not feeling so well. I had some swelling before, but this time my eye lids were swollen, and I just felt horrible, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had a doctors app. that day, so as I was gettin ready I couldn't believe that none of my clothes that I normally would wear just did not fit right anymore. When I go to the doctors, they did the normal, weight, blood pressure, and urine sample. When they weighed me I couldn't believe it, I had gained 20 pounds in 1 week. My blood pressure was up and they had me lie on my left side for 15 minutes and they took it again. It was still up, so I waited for the doctor to come in. She came in and sat down and was looking over things, she said "You know what, I'm not even going to check you, I want you to go over to the hospital now, and I'll see you over there in alittle while." So I did. After I got settled in with the monitors hooked up, the blood pressure machine, the doctor came and said that they was just going to monitor me for awhile. I ended up being admitted with preeclampsia. So began the 20-minute intervals of BP monitoring. The magnesium sulfate. To be honest with you, everything is sorta a blurr. I was so sick from the magnesium sulfate, throwing up, and alittle unsure of what was going to happen. I honestly thought I was going to die, I remember telling my mother "Please don't let me die." I remember, having my water broke, getting my epidural (spelling?), which was wonderful for awhile, I got to sleep after having that. I remember waking up with cramping only on my left side. It was horrible, the epidural wore off by then. Shortly after waking up, and some complaning, my doctor came into to check me. I was still at 6 cen. and Kaleb (my son) was head down but facing the wrong direction. Doctor finally said "Your blood pressure is going alittle to high, and we need to get your baby out of there, we are going to have to do an emergency c-section." At that point I didn't care how he came out, I just wanted him to be ok. After being taking into the operating room, I came just remember screaming because I was so scared and my boyfriend, was like in shock and could speak! When they got Kaleb out, I couldn't hear him, and I was yelling,"Why can't I hear him, please someone tell me he is ok." Finally he let out a good, loud cry. He was born at 10:44 am on July 9th, 2004. That night, is sorta still a blurr to me. I was still on the magnesium sulfate, and could barely open my eyes. I was so swollen, that my eyes were black and blue. It look like someone kick the shit outta me. I had my son on a friday, they told me that I would be leaving Monday. Well I was there until Wednesday. They had put me on a blood pressure pill, because my blood pressure wouldn't come down. That was really scary, because they said that it was possible that I would have to take it for the rest of my life. Thank god my body got it under control, and I am ok now. I am thinking of having another child, but the thought of going through that again scares the hell out of me. But I know that I will, I just pray that everything turns out ok. I thank that doctor, I don't want to mention her name not sure she would appreciate that, but she took very good care of my son and I.... AND I WILL NEVER FORGET HER!!!!
