Delivery nightmare

I was 19 years old when I got pregnant with my son, now 2 years old. Everything was normal in the begining of my pregnancy. At 28 weeks, I noticed a lot of swelling but didn't think anything of it. At 34 weeks, I had an iron infusion and when they checked my BP it was 150/80, so after my infusion we went to my doctor. They did a stress test and checked for protein in my urine, then sent me home to take a 24hr urine test. The next morning I took the test to the hospital and went home.

That night I got a call to come to the hospital: I was going to get induced. It didn't ,so they kept me on bed rest at the hospital. After 6 days in the hospital in bed, my BP was 186/92, so they broke my water ASAP. When they did that, the fluid that was coming out of me was dark: my son had pooped when they broke my water.

After several hours, I was barely getting any contractions, so after 10 hrs they transferred me to a different hospital. There I was still not in active labor for another 12 hrs. Finally I was starting to have more active contractions and ended up getting an infection with a fever. I was so out of it I can only remember a little of what happened. Finally I got the epidurel and it didn't work on me, so I could still feel everything. 8 hrs later I was a .I was so tired I started falling asleep and would stop breathing when I dozed off, so they kept waking me up and eventually put oxygen on me.

When I finally broke my fever I started pushing. 3 hrs later I had my amazing son at 36 weeks. He had swallowed the amniotic fluid and had the umbilical cord around his neck. I was so emotionaly destroyed after that I still suffer from depression today. He was in the NICU for nine days. He was put on a cooling blanket, which I think made him have no problems. They told me he would have some kind of developmental problems because of his traumatic birth. He was late on holding his head up, sitting up, crawling, and walking, but he can do all of it and now he is so smart and has no signs of problems. He is only 2 years old and does a lot of things 3-4 year olds are doing. I am 22 years old and my husband and I started talking about maybe trying to have another baby in a year or two, but I am so scared of this happening again.

Thank you for reading my long story I hope some of you can relate to my story and for the young moms out there.
