Kelly's story

My name is Kelly Warren and I'm from Thomas Co., Ga. I am 20 years old and I had preeclampsia during my pregnancy too. I had high blood pressure problems, swelling all over, tremendous weight gain, and protein in my urine. I was very sick. I would get dizzy from standing to long, and my feet would swell so big after standing for so long as well. Nobody in my family believed that I really was sick and didn't feel good, until I was hospitalized for 3 months before I delivered my baby boy. I fainted a few times in the hospital as I was going to get some test done for the protein count in my urine. It was the most scariest time in my life.

My due date was originally December 10, 2006 but I had my son on September 18, 2006 at 27 gesational weeks. He was basically 3 months early. He weighed 1 lb. 11oz. at birth and 14 1/2 in. I often ask myself what I did so wrong for this to happen to me and my son but really it was not anything I did, it's just a fact of life. "Everything happens for a reason." Now my son is 6 months and 4 days old, he has the mind set of a 3 month old baby. He has been in and out of the hospital since the day he was released from the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in Albany, Ga. @ Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. This has been a very long journey for the both of us but luckily I have lots of family and friends supporting me through it all. That really makes a big difference. Thomas (my son) still has a long journey due to premature lung development, and breathing issues. We have put everything in gods hands and we are going to let him do what he thinks is best for him. God will never put to much on you if he thinks you cant handle it, just keep that in mind at all times. No matter how rough the road may get. Keep praying too, that really does make a difference, in any aspect of your life. Hope the best for anyone who goes through what I have.
