At 27 weeks pregnant, I had gone to the er. I was throwing up and spiked a fever. I had a kidney infection and was in preterm labor. Nothing was ever said about my BP. They stopped the labor and treated me for the infection. At 31 weeks pregnant I was in so much pain I couldn't sit, lay, or stand comfortably. Everyone kept saying it was normal pregnancy pain but it felt like something else. I was up and down all night showering trying to ease the pain. When my husband left for work I called the ambulance to come check me out. They ended up taking me to the hospital and I sat in the waiting room in so much pain. I felt like I was dying. When they got me admitted they did an ultrasound on the baby and also my organs. I remember sitting in the bed while the doctor told me my BP was so high that my liver and my kidneys were shutting down. It felt like a blur. I had her speak to my husband and he made it to me in less than an hour. They said if it didn't come down we would be looking at delivery in less than 48 hours. I made it to that friday, 32 weeks. I was in so much pain I was screaming at my nurse because she told me she couldn't give me more pain meds. After that I remember waking up to nurses and a surgeon who introduced herself and explained it would be an emergency section and then I was out again. When I woke up they explained to me his lungs weren't expanding and I signed paperwork for transport to a pediatric hospital. He had a breathing machine, feeding tube, and the tubes in his lungs. I had to watch this from a screen from the opposite hospital because my BP wasn't dropping. Two days later I recieved news my dad passed. I was still stuck for another week before they released me. After a month we got to bring him home. In October, he got rsv and I watched him fight for his life all over again. 2021 was the scariest year of my life.
This is my preeclampsia story. And it is a hard one. But it is mine.
