I was in the hospital because of preeclampsia. Suddenly, I had intense pain in my upper abdomen. It radiated into my chest. I panicked. I was quickly taken to the delivery room, and my blood values kept getting worse. Diagnosis: HELLP syndrome. He had to be delivered right now. Seven weeks too early. I was alone during the C-section. He didn’t cry. He was taken away before I could even see him. This was followed by three weeks in the neonatal unit, and at first, I was in the ICU. Thank God we made it through.
