Never Had High Blood Pressure Until Severe Preeclampsia

At 30 weeks pregnant, I started noticing changes occurring within my body.

What I thought was “normal” pregnancy swelling was not. My gut feeling told me to check my blood pressure, even though I had never had high blood pressure prior. It was abnormally high. I went to ER and was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia.

I was getting sicker by the day. My organs began to swell up and my BP would not stop spiking. I began to need oxygen. My heart began to develop fluid inside of it. After a few days, I had to have an emergancy induction. My daughter was born at exactly 31 weeks. She was in NICU for nearly a month. I continued to have spikes in my BP and was on medication for a few weeks after delivery.
