Pre Eclampsia Journey

I am a 4 times pre eclampsia survivor from Kenya,Africa . I lost my first two pregnancies, then the next two with the help of a gaenacologist/Obstetrician , I went through it and got the babies. In my first pregnancy i gained weight rapidly but didn't no that it was an indicator. I am medical lab scientist and therefor i was working in a hospital, but even my colleagues didn't suspect anything until i woke up with a swollen face, is when i was checked pressure only to realize it was 160/110. I was put on anti-hypertensives , but it was too late, i went into eclampsia and lost my baby at around 22 weeks. I developed phobia and therefore feared pregnancy. I stayed for about 2 years then i conceived again . My Bps were checked daily at my place of work and thy were within normal ranges. One day, at around the 7th month , i just woke up in the morning and felt a sharp pain in my belly. I felt restlessness, i couldnt walk, i also realised my palms were turning pale. i was rushed to the hospital. I had a concealed placenta abruptio and previaea. I was operated on, the baby was removed but again it was too late, i lost him. I went in shock, i had anaemia, blurred vision for some time. I couldnt hold it and therefore i resigned from work so that i can join my spouse who was working from the city while i was in the country side.
While in the city is when we sought a specialist help whom took us through what we needed to do for a good out come. we therefor atarte with a preconception clinic, then continued with clinics after conception. I was put on junior aspirin and antihypertensives. This i went through smoothly but at 38 weeks, pressure developed, but the baby was delivered through C/S. I struggled with family planning methods, and therefore i conceived 9 months after delivery. I developed pre eclampsia at 6 weeks; i had swellings, weight , protein in urin and HBp. This was was severe, i was admitted but the Bps were not controlled. I was injected a drug to develop the baby's lungs . And at 6 and half months, the baby was delivered via C/S both with 1.3kgs. we stayed in the hospital for 4 weeks and during discharge, she had 1.7 kgs. I real feel information on pre eclampsia has not been well spread. More awareness should be done. I have interest in contributing to the research to bring change and improve on maternal health.
