My Third and Worst Delivery

My Third and Worst Delivery

I had severe preeclampsia with my last two pregnancies. I knew what to watch out for with preeclampsia but never HELLP. I had upper back pain and dismissed it as just pain as I was seeing a chiropractor. It progressively got worse. I knew it wasn’t a symptom but I also knew I had previously had something that wasn’t a symptom be a symptom. I had what felt like a pinched nerve but was my blood vessels constricting during my second pregnancy. I took my blood pressure and it was 185/115. We immediately went in. My liver enzymes were already at 400. I had my spontaneous delivery with so many lab checks that my arm was completely bruised. I knew something was different because I had even thrown a huge blood clot before my OB had gotten to break my water. Afterwards I was losing so much blood that she put a paste down there to stop it. They had taken more blood to check my labs. My liver enzymes were in the 4’000’s and my platelets were down to 25. I was immediately put in for transfusions and prepped to be flown to another hospital. Thankfully no transfusion but I remember being so tired. I tried so hard to stay awake scared that the doctors would know something was wrong. I was also worried about pumping for my baby but i couldn’t until 2 days later because my body just stopped and all I could do was sleep. Thankfully my levels and platelets went back to normal. The maternal and fetal OB said that my OB saved my life. I will forever be grateful to her and God for saving my life when I should have died. Follow any and all symptoms and save your life.
