After an unremarkable pregnancy other then some fetal growth issues, I started to experience raised BP and a few other symptoms of preeclampsia. I was induced at 39 week after having raised bp every few days for a couple of weeks, proteinuria, swelling and other symptoms. I needed bp meds while in labour but was allowed to go home the next day after my little one was born. I was told to watch out for preeclampsia symptoms but I was already so swollen all over I missed that warning sign. I was also told by the community midwife that swelling was normal and would go away if I kept my feet up. Day 5 postpartum another midwife visits us at home and my BP is really high again and send us into triage. While there I start experience chest pain and shortness of breath, bp won't come down with meds and my pulse drops below 50. They take me down to A&E as they think I'm suffering an aortic dissection and I have a haemorrhagic stroke just after arriving in A&E. I spend the next 6 days in hospital and in ICU trying to get my bp under control and on magnesium and other preeclampsia protocols. I'm thankful I survived but I missed out on my daughters first month of life and still struggling with lasting deficits from the stroke that I feel are still robbing me of the normal experience of bringing up my little one. I'm also struggling with PTSD from the experience.
