On Sunday, March 11, 2012 my life changed forever. My husband, Terrell, and I were five and one-half months pregnant with our miracle baby girl, Lauren Kelly.
I use the word miracle because we know she was a gift from God after struggling to conceive. We were headed back home after spending time with family in Manning. As soon as we pulled up into the driveway around 10pm I felt an unbelievable pain on the upper right side of my belly.
Long story short, my husband rushed me to the emergency room. Upon arriving, I was sent to the labor and delivery unit for an ultrasound. The first showed Lauren’s heartbeat was faint. The second showed no sign of a heartbeat at all. Terrell and I experienced a pain that we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy. At that point, I disconnected. My heart felt sick from the gut cut life just brought me.
The pain that led me to the hospital was linked to a life-threatening condition known as HELLP Syndrome. With the support of my physicians, family and friends - was able to recover. My husband and I are grateful to now have 3 amazing sons. While we miss Lauren Kelly, her legacy lives on. Our family is commited supporters of the Preeclampsia Foundataion. We launched the first Promise Walk for Preeclampsia in 2013 (1 year after our loss). In July 2018, I joined the Board of Directors.
