My Story

First Experience I was pregnant with my son in 2022 since 30 weeks I had high blood pressure. I got put on medication for it but no matter the dose or how many times a day it kept rising. I finally got referred to [the hospital]. My first appointment (Friday) they went over all the testing and told me “we’re probably gonna have a birthday on Monday” they kept me over the weekend and my son was born on Monday due to my blood pressure being too high he also had IUGR as a result and stayed in the NICU for 13 days he was born at 35 weeks. He’s now a loving, hilarious, super smart 3 year old.

My second experience I was pregnant with my daughter my blood pressure started getting high before 20 weeks but I already planned because of my son. Weeks go by and I’ve had some high blood pressure but not alarming enough to induce we had appointments every 2 weeks and then I started having a horrible headache they admitted me and tried a bunch of different medications that were safe for pregnancy but it wouldn’t go away. They took into account of my past preeclampsia and my high blood pressure and with this week long headache that would get better and my daughter was born at 34 weeks she also had IUGR and Placental Insufficiency. She had her cord wrapped around her neck and needed CPAP for the first couple days. She was in the NICU for 16 days. However she sustained a PVL from birth so she has ongoing issues to this day. She just turned a year old and she’s so sassy and beautiful.

To this day I still remember the fear of not knowing what preeclampsia was during my first pregnancy and the struggle that comes with. I don’t remember much from the birth because of the Mag drip and recovery from preeclampsia wasn’t easy but it was so worth it to have my 2 beautiful children. I’m so grateful for the team [I had at the hosptial]. They not only saved my life but also my children’s lives.
