The Unknown

My story began with my first child in 1999. I was 29 years old and pregnant for the first time after being told I couldn't have children. I followed every recommendation given by my doctor and attended every doctor appointment. At my 39 week appointment I was told there was protein in my urine, I was beginning preeclampsia, and my doctor had lost his privileges at the hospital. I either changed hospitals (insurance said no) or took whoever was on duty. On duty it was! I headed to the hospital and they started induction. Two days later I was still not moving. My blood pressure continued to rise and I was more and more uncomfortable. The decision was made to do an emergency c-section. Things moved quickly after that moment. I was wheeled back, they started, I heard cursing from the doctor, and I woke up a day later with a baby. I had started to bleed out. We had no idea I would find out in 2025 that I had Stickler Syndrome and CVID. Both have bleeding disorders. I stayed in the hospital 2 more days and was discharged. Within 24 hours I was back in the ER with double lobe pneumonia and both lungs partially collapsed. I was so distraught that I couldn't see my baby while admitted, they had to give me medicine to calm down and my husband snuck the baby in. In 2003 our next son was born. I had an emergency c-section then also and preeclampsia. I bled out so much I woke up a couple of days later. Very traumatic. I was told not to have any more children if I wanted to live. I live with permanent high blood pressure.
