I had a perfect pregnancy until I didn’t. At 32 weeks my doctor started monitoring my blood pressure and bumped me up to weekly doctors appointments and blood tests. My doctor suspected that I might develop preeclampsia but nothing in the test results were showing up to prove it. I went in for my 34 week appointment and never came home. My doctor walked me over to labor and delivery and my blood pressure was 190/110. I felt completely fine and had zero symptoms. They induced me at 34 weeks and one day and my son was born two days later. He spent two weeks in the Nicu. I never got to hold him when he was born. I don’t have pictures of us smiling happily in a hospital bed. I couldn’t open my eyes for 24 hours because of the magnesium drip. I had to leave the hospital with my baby and nothing prepares you for that.
