Throughout my whole pregnancy I knew something was off within my body. Every time I went to my doctor, my blood pressure was higher. She kept telling me it was nothing to worry about. Around 20 weeks I started having really bad swelling, again told this is normal in pregnancy. At 35 weeks I started having more symptoms head ache, blurry vision, side pain, and edema. My husband took me to l&d we waited hours to find out they were going to induce me because I had preeclampsia. Immediately, they put me on a mag drip and induced me at 12pm. I labored for 24 hours only getting to 5cm. The doctors decided to break my water to help get things moving. After breaking my water nothing came out, a little while later they tried again still nothing. They started to bring up the idea of a c-section if things did not progress. About 15 minutes later nurses rushed in flipping me. I remember a nurse over me telling me everything would be okay. I was bleeding very badly. We later found out my placenta started to detach. I was rushed into the operating room, my husband struggling to keep up. When they pulled my baby out he did not cry in the OR. They took him to the NICU to be put on oxygen. The doctor told us he would be monitored for the night. He ended up having a 9 day NICU stay. After birth my blood pressure continued to stay high. The doctor kept me admitted for 5 days after birth to continue monitoring my blood pressure. To this day month's later I wish someone had listened to me.
