Done At 3, but 4 Redeemed Pregnancy For Me

I developed pre-eclampsia with 3 of my 4 children.

My oldest I was diagnosed around 32 weeks, we made it to 36.6weeks. Went in for amnio to see if baby was safe to deliver, and she was running significantly small. So being she was 1 day shy of "full term" they decided to induce. 16 hr induction, mag drip, she was 4lb 7oz, no nicu and perfect.

My second I was monitored closely due to my history. I was again diagnosed around 31-32 weeks. We monitored 2x a week with BPP and NST. While she continued to pass, the doctor just felt off. I mentioned my at home readings were around 150/95 consistently. Baby was also measuring significantly small. Doctor did some digging in my chart, as well as some talking to other providers and decided baby would be better out than in. She was delivered via induction - 21 hours - at 35.6, with mag, weighed 3lb 1oz and 19 days in nicu.

Third was a doozy. I was continually monitored closely due to my history. Around 27 weeks my bp began to creep up so I was monitored extra closely. At 31 weeks I felt very, very ill, i was swollen and my bp was high so I went to be assessed. They admitted me to Labor & Delivery. I was there 4 days, and they got my bp under control and allowed me to go home with strict instructions to return immediately should things change. I was home 36 hours and felt so ill again I went back. I was hospitalized again for 2 days, where I began to have contractions and my bp would not lower, even while on multiple IV meds. I was transferred via ambulance to a larger hospital, in which they decided at 32.4 weeks that baby needed to be delivered. Contractions that were progressing me, elevated BP, my labs were worsening, my bp would not stabilize (highest i recall seeing was 207/110 - however likely had higher I just didn't see) ... so, another induction, with mag, 6 hours, 3lb even, 23 days in nicu. Found partial abruption after placenta was delivered.

We were done after her. Knowing each pregnancy got more severe and babies born earlier and earlier. We had 3 healthy baby girls, I survived, and we decided to be done....

Then came number 4. Completely unplanned. We were preventing, just hadn't made things official yet. I was terrified. My doctor monitored me extremely closely. At 25 weeks I began seeing ob 2x a week with nst and bpp. Was admitted 3 or 4 times throughout for monitoring. I made it to 37.0 and had a planned induction. It went perfectly. She was born after a 5 hour induction, 4lb 3oz, 3 days in nicu just to control temp - no mag - perfect. She redeemed pregnancy for me. She allowed me to have one "normal" pregnancy with no pre-e, no mag, and minimal nicu. While she wasn't planned she truly completes us and made my last pregnancy a good one, so we could close our baby having chapter on a good note. ♡

I know the wait and see is hard. And it can have detrimental effects. But, if you truly trust your OB, they have yours and babys best interest at heart. Sometimes baby is better out than in. Sometimes you and baby are stable enough that keeping them in a tish longer is best. Trust your gut, but also trust your doctor!
