Post-Partum Preeclampsia? Probably Pre-Birth Too

Nearing the end of my pregnancy, I began seeing stars, having headaches and my face swelled up like a giant balloon. My blood pressure was creeping and high for me, but not close enough to the standard cutoff. I couldn’t find shoes that would fit my swollen feet and I was still suffering from daily nausea and vomiting that lasted the entire pregnancy. The Friday before my daughter was born I presented to the ER for all of my symptoms but was quickly sent home and told to collect a 24-hour urine. Sunday morning my daughter was born happy and healthy. My blood pressure was still rising, enough to concern the nurse, but there was nothing she could do because I hadn’t met the threshold for treatment so I was discharged. 2 days after birth, I had huge clots and headaches so I went back to the doctor who said everything was fine, I was just a first time mom. 5 days after my daughter was born I had the worst headache of my life. I tried to sleep, was alternating Tylenol and Motrin and nothing helped. I took my blood pressure at home and it was 210/100. I immediately went back to the ER and was admitted for almost a week until they could stabilize my blood pressure and bring down the swelling in my brain.
