Prior to the onset, for a few weeks things had been going on. I had pains that I was worried about that checked out fine at L&D. Prior to that, my son’s heart rate had significantly increased and it worried my OB. She sent me to be monitored. Everything ended up fine. Even before that I had placenta previa and was originally slated for a C section but that cleared up. It was just one thing after another. At 36&2, my husband and I went to the movies. I started getting a headache but thought nothing of it. We came home, I went to bed, woke up and went to work the day. I was tired but got through the day. Came home and went to sleep. I woke up at around midnight in agonizing pain. It increased rapidly. I was holding my head running around the house and told my husband I needed to go to the hospital. We ended up being in the hospital an extra day because I needed to be monitored for my BP. I had appointments monitoring my BP from when he was born at the end of July until December when it finally stabilized and went back to normal without medication. I do not wish this on anyone and I wish there was more information, education, and research on it. It was a traumatizing birth experience but I’d do it again in a heartbeat to ensure my son and I survive and are healthy.
In 2024, my husband and I received our long-awaited answered prayer—the pregnancy and birth of our first child, our daughter, Shira. Wh...
