Preterm Eclampsia and Severe Preeclampsia

2022, 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby, no symptoms, I experienced eclamptic seizures out of the blue in my living room. Paramedics found my BP to be 210/110, an ambulance ride to the hospital, an emergency C-section under GA, PRES, kidney injury, MgSO4 for 5 days and an ICU admission for 3, saw a very traumatic transition into parenthood for my fiancé and myself.

2025, we were expecting our 2nd baby. Daily aspirin, growth scans from 24 weeks and regular obstetric input, providing reassurance during this pregnancy. We made it to 36 weeks before the growth of our little girl declined significantly. 3 days later I was on antihypertensives with a labile BP, the MgSO4 infusion was commenced and she was delivered. Less than 48 hours post delivery and after MgSO4 had been ceased for 12 hours I experienced a hypertensive crisis and recommenced MgSO4 for the next 3 days, and let me tell you the impending doom was REAL!

I’ve suffered from severe health anxiety post the births of my children, the ongoing appointments and specialist follow ups don’t end on discharge, it’s a life changing experience! We are grateful for our two healthy and happy babies and our family is now complete.
